Community Projects

Community projects are an important aspect of what we do at Shunt, bringing dance to the wider community and enabling more people to experience high quality dance is a salient feature of our work. We work on short and long term projects with Youth Dance Companies and County dance authorities.

We are always interested in opportunities to work with different community members and organisations as it informs and inspires our work and practise both artistically and in education.

Sadie Hunt has recently worked with SYCD (Sandringham Youth Contemporary Dance) creating several works for various performances including Rumble at the Lillian Baylis Theatre.

In February Half term 2009, Sadie worked as a choreographer and dance tutor for Bedfordshire Music, and Bedfordshire Youth Service on a project funded by Streetcred for 13 – 19 year olds living in Bedfordshire. The students participated in a 4 day intensive arts course covering dance, drama and singing, looking at the musicals Rent, Hairspray and West Side Story.

Sadie is currently teaching at Whitefields Infants School in Marsh Farm, Luton. Organised by Peculiar Productions and funded by the Transition and Intervention Trailblazer Project Sadie works with year 2 students developing their literacy, communication and social skills and improving speaking and listening.

The Company will only evolve with the community around us leading us forward.
